“I’ve always liked the phrase “practicing artist,” because it implies what I believe to be the essence of an artist’s role in the world: experimentation, effort, questioning, open-mindedness, curiosity, willingness to fail, and the desire to succeed.”

Everything I make is simply itself. It is not a painting “of” something or a drawing that is supposed to look “like” something that the viewer has seen before…My current work continues my interest in creating an object with history. It is important to me that the object reveals this history slowly -- usually after considerable scrutiny from near and far. I create this history through layering of abstractions, doodles and architectural elements, both observed and imagined.”
